About Linekind Press

A small independent press making colouring books worth your pencils.

Linekind Press is a one person operation run from Poland, publishing original colouring books for people who never really stopped colouring.

Why we started

Look at what is on offer today and you find two extremes. On one side, colouring books built for toddlers: four thick shapes on a page and a smiling sun. On the other, adult books so densely patterned that finishing a single page feels like a second job. In between there is a gap, and that gap is full of people who want character, story and room to actually put colour down.

That gap is what we publish for.

What we care about

• Characters with personality. Every creature in our books is original. No clip art, no recycled stock, no borrowed franchises.
• Lines you can colour inside. Confident outer contours, well separated details, closed areas. If a shape is impossible to fill neatly, it does not ship.
• Room to make it yours. We leave open surfaces on purpose, so you can add your own patterns instead of just filling in ours.
• Worlds, not collections. Each series is one connected place. The monsters in Monster Town at Work and the ones clocking on in Night Shift live in the same universe.

How a book gets made

Each title starts as a plan of 48 distinct scenes, checked against everything we have published before so no two pages repeat a creature, a job or a setting. Every illustration is then reviewed by hand, one at a time, against a written checklist: correct anatomy, closed colouring areas, readable action, no stray lines, still legible when shrunk to a thumbnail. Pages that fail get redone or dropped. A typical book is chosen from far more candidates than the 48 that make the final cut.

It is a slow way to work. It is also why the books hang together.
